Coonamble Youth Work Experience Program
  • Our Partner/s: DEEWR, MPREC, Mission Australia
  • Community location: Coonamble youth (visit Sydney)
  • Outcomes: Four students undertook mentored 3 day work experience placements at Accor and Nestle (CCAB corporate partners)
Health Heroes workshops
  • Our Partner/s: DoHA
  • Community location: Dareton, Wilcannia, Goodooga, Bathurst, Western Sydney, Broken Hill, Coonamble
  • Outcomes: 16 sessions - The purpose of the workshops was to bring together students interested in working in health and local Aboriginal health workers to discuss their career path. 180 participants)
Parent and Community Engagement Project
  • Our Partner/s: DEEWR
  • Community location: Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Newcastle, Sydney
  • Outcomes: 12 workshops ? Working with parents & provide information to assist them on future employment/education pathways for their children incl. industry specific info and curriculum choices
Bourke Housing Project
  • Our Partner/s: MPREC and LendLease
  • Community location: Bourke
  • Outcomes: Lend Lease committed to working with the community in Bourke to design and construct new housing, the land for which has been secured. Murdi Paaki and Lend Lease will leverage opportunities for training and skilling and cultural learning exchange (between Lend Lease employees and the community) through this initial pilot project.
Wilcannia Community Careers Expo
  • Our Partner/s: Centacare
  • Community location: Wilcannia
  • Outcomes: CCAB developed an event which involved regional and local potential employers, education and training providers, service delivery groups and industry and community reps in an interactive, multi site program of information sharing and relationship building to inspire local youth and community and to develop personal career aspirations. 200+ participants
2012
School to work transition program - Radio training
  • Our Partner/s: Centacare
  • Community location: Wilcannia
  • Outcomes: Sessions at school and community radio station - focus on how to run an efficient radio service, creating community announcements, programming, the role of community radio, how to conduct interviews etc.
Health Heroes
  • Our Partner/s: DoHA
  • Community location: Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, Alice Springs, Katherine, Darwin, Broome, Canberra, Launceston, Perth, Hobart
  • Outcomes: 11 workshops - The purpose of the workshops was to bring together students interested in working in health and local Aboriginal health workers to discuss their career path. 120 participants.
Media Tour
  • Our Partner/s: Koori Radio, Channel 9, 2GB Radio, Nova 96.6 Radio, NITV, SBS
  • Community location: Wilcannia and Menindee Schools visited Sydney
  • Outcomes: Show participants how media could be used to strengthen community and develop broadcast skills, learn about opportunities in media.
Wilcannia Store
  • Our Partner/s: Community representatives, local agencies
  • Community location: Wilcannia
  • Outcomes: Evaluation of potential for store purchase by community representative group.

Warri-Li Careers Development Tour
  • Our Partner/s: Warri-Li Aborginal Elders
  • Community location: Tamworth and regional groups
  • Outcomes: Students age 15 - 18 from Quirindi High School - visit to Sydney - career information shared by hosts Parramatta Eels, Ernst and Young, IBA, Tag Training, Huhtamaki, Ch 9, Penrith Panthers and Accor.
2014
Corporate Partner Volunteer Program for Aboriginal Youth
  • Our Partner/s: Nestle
  • Community location: Tamworth NSW
  • Outcomes: In partnership with Nestle, CCAB facilitated a sustainable holiday program where Nestle staff volunteers worked in the community providing activities such as cooking, sports, art/crafts, photography, Mentor training for volunteers. Program continuing.
2015
IAS Driving for Aboriginal youth (to overcome barriers to employment)
  • Our Partner/s: Dubbo LALC
  • Community location: Dubbo NSW
  • Outcomes: CCAB worked with Local Aboriginal Land Council to develop and lodge program tender. Successful.
2015 & 2016
Naremburn School work experience Program
  • Our Partner/s: NSW state Govt, High School for youth at risk
  • Community location: Naremburn, NSW
  • Outcomes: 16 at risk students undertook work experience placements at Mosman Vet, Carpentry, Electrical Sound Engineering / Music production, Retail and Hospitality, Cameron Jane Beauty, Academy of Interactive Education, Food Scientist.
